The right presser foot makes a difficult seam easy and consistent. Most feet below fit high-shank industrial single-needle lockstitch machines such as the Juki DDL-8700, Jack F4 and Brother machines. Domestic and automatic machines use snap-on low-shank feet instead (see the end of this guide).
The standard hinged foot (for example 24983) is for everyday straight stitching. Keep a spare: a bent or worn foot causes uneven stitching.
Compensating feet have a guide on one side for edge stitching and top stitching at a fixed distance from the edge. CR has the guide on the right, CL on the left, and the fraction is the stitch distance from the edge: 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 inch. We stock most sizes in both versions.
The SP18 series are hinged feet with a left or right guide (1/16, 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 inch), useful for collars, cuffs and pockets. The S10 adjustable tape guide foot guides tape up to 1 inch (25 mm) wide.
For leather, rexine, coated and sticky fabric, use a Teflon foot (for example MT18 and T36LN) or a roller foot such as the T3 knurled roller foot or the CR1/32N steel-teeth roller foot. They stop the fabric from sticking or dragging.
Zipper feet let the needle sew close to the zipper teeth: the P58 wide split hinged zipper foot, and the T69 and T168 / S518L invisible zipper feet. Piping (dori) feet, left or right side, sew piping cord into seams.
Hemming feet fold and sew a narrow hem in one pass, for example the 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) hemming foot and the 1/4 inch stainless steel hemming foot. For wider hems and binding use folders and hemmers such as the A11 and A70 series. Folders and attachments
Gathering (shirring) feet such as the P5Q and P5W gather fabric as you sew; elastic shirring feet attach elastic. For overlock machines there is a 5-thread gathering foot for the Pegasus M700.
Automatic and domestic machines use snap-on low-shank feet: zig-zag, narrow zipper, overcasting and gathering feet, plus a snap-on adapter holder. We also stock feet for Pegasus M700, Siruba 747/757, Pegasus W500 and EX3200, Juki MH-380 and LH-3168.
