The Juki DDL-8700 is the most common single-needle lockstitch machine in Indian garment units. These machines use DBx1 needles. Size 14/90 suits most garments; use 11/75 for light fabric and 16/100 to 18/110 for denim. A worn needle is the most common cause of skipped stitches. Read our needle guide.

The rotating hook picks up the needle thread to form each stitch. A damaged hook point causes skipped stitches that a new needle does not fix, and frayed or broken thread. Shuttle and hook sets
Burrs or grooves on the needle plate snag fabric and cut thread; a worn feed dog feeds fabric unevenly or lets it slip. Replace them together when feeding gets uneven. Needle plates · Feed dogs
Beyond the standard foot, most units use special feet: compensating feet (CR = right, CL = left, in sizes like 1/8 and 1/4) for edge and top stitching, hemming feet, and Teflon feet for leather and coated fabric. Presser feet · Hemmers and folders

A machine that runs hot, noisy or dry usually has an oil supply problem. Common replacements: oil pump assembly (229-23056), oil tubes (229-24500 and 229-24401), oil seals and the oil reservoir gasket (229-31901).
If the presser foot no longer lifts fully with your knee, check the knee lifter push rod (229-31703), rotating arm (229-32107) and knee pad plate assembly (229-34251).
