The knife cuts the buttonhole open after sewing, so its length sets the buttonhole length. We stock these sizes:

A dull knife leaves uncut threads in the buttonhole. Also check the knife holder (B2701-761-000) and knife spring.
If threads are not cut cleanly at the end of the cycle, check the upper (needle thread) trimmer assembly B2001-771-0A0 and the counter knife / bobbin thread trimmer blade assembly (B2408-771-000, B2406-771-0A0).
Skipped stitches or loose bottom thread point to the hook set (B1808-771-0AC), the bobbin case (B1810-771-0A0) or its tension spring. We also stock bobbins (B1811-771-000) and the bobbin winder.
Small, medium and big presser feet (B1511-771-0A0, B1511-772-0A0, B1511-773-0A0) suit different buttonhole lengths. The rubber pad on the foot wears and lets fabric slip; replace it when the buttonholes start to shift.
